Shady Acres

In the early 20’s, an investment company bought one-hundred acres to develop and subdivide the area from Ella Boulevard and 610-North to Durham and West 15th Street. They dubbed the area as “Shady Acres.”

Residents establish roots in the community for various reasons. Whether it be for bountiful groups of enormous shade trees, or the close proximity to The Heights, Shady Acres transformed into a lively enjoyable spot to live.

The Great Outdoors

If you would rather be outside, visit the hike and bike trails along the White Oak Bayou to work up a sweat. Alternatively stop at a clearing at the end of West 23rd to appreciate the birds, butterflies, and other animal species in Little Thicket park.
